In a statement issued by Mr. Casimir P. Biriyok, President and Dr. Janet Nale Secretary, the group said the establishment represents a historic achievement, not only for Southern Kaduna but for Kaduna State and Nigeria as a whole.

“As an organisation committed to the advancement of our people, we are overjoyed by this development and recognise the far-reaching impact that such an institution will have on education, economic growth, and social progress in our region.

“””For many years, Southern Kaduna has been marginalised in the allocation of federal institutions, despite its immense potential and contributions to national development.
The establishment of this university is a long-awaited victory and a clear indication that our perseverance and advocacy for inclusion have yielded results.

“The lack of federal educational institutions in Southern Kaduna has historically placed significant barriers to higher education for our youth.
“Many have had to travel long distances or face financial hardships to access quality tertiary education.
“With the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, we believe that this challenge will be significantly alleviated, allowing more students to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to contribute meaningfully to society.

“We, therefore, celebrate this moment as a victory for justice, fairness, and equity in the distribution of educational resources.

“We extend our sincere appreciation to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for signing this important initiative into law. His decision to approve the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, demonstrates a strong commitment to education, regional development, and national progress.
“By granting this university to Southern Kaduna, the President has not only recognised the need for equitable educational opportunities but has also given the people of the region a renewed sense of belonging and hope.
“This university will serve as a beacon of knowledge, skill development, and technological innovation, contributing significantly to the advancement of both Kaduna State and Nigeria.

‘We encourage President Tinubu to continue his commitment to educational reforms and to ensure that resources and investments in infrastructure, faculty, and student welfare are adequately provided to make this institution one of the best in the country.

The establishment of a university of this magnitude does not happen overnight. It is the result of relentless advocacy, strategic planning, and the unwavering commitment of numerous individuals and organisations.
“We wish to acknowledge and express our deep gratitude to the Vice President, His Excellency, Senator Kashim Shettima, Senator Uba Sani, Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, Senator Danjuma Laah, Bishop Mathew Kukah, Most Rev. Dr. Matthew Man-oso Ndagoso, Gen. Christopher Musa, Rev John Joseph Hayab, Engr Andrew Yakubu, Dr Abdulamalik Durunguwa, members of both houses of the National Assembly and the leadership of both chambers,  among others and other stakeholders who played instrumental roles in making this dream a reality. Their commitment to ensuring that Southern Kaduna receives its fair share of national development is commendable.
“Additionally, we recognise the tireless efforts of community leaders, activists, scholars, and political representatives who have, over the years, championed the need for a higher institution in Southern Kaduna. Your dedication and unwavering belief in this cause have finally paid off, and future generations will benefit immensely from this achievement.

“We also take this opportunity to appreciate the foresight of Chief Tony Hassan, whose contributions to key infrastructure in the region have significantly expedited the establishment of this university. Without such groundwork, the process of actualising this project would have faced even greater delays and challenges. His commitment to community development deserves recognition and praise.
“SOKAPDAE is of the view that The Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, will be a game-changer for Southern Kaduna and the broader Kaduna State.
“The university’s focus on applied sciences will play a crucial role in equipping students with practical, hands-on skills that will drive technological advancement and industrial growth.

“This university will provide quality education in science, technology, engineering, and other applied disciplines, producing graduates who can compete globally.

“It will also encourage cutting-edge research and innovation, fostering an environment where students and faculty can work on real-world challenges and develop practical solutions to national and global problems.

“Education is a powerful tool for economic empowerment, and the presence of this university will stimulate growth in various sectors. From housing and real estate to business and entrepreneurship, the local economy in Kachia and surrounding areas will experience significant development.

“Additionally, as the university attracts students, faculty, and researchers from across Nigeria and beyond, it will foster cultural exchange, diversity, and increased investment in the region.

“With the establishment of this university, numerous employment opportunities will be created, ranging from academic positions to administrative and technical roles. More importantly, the university will equip students with practical skills that make them employable and self-reliant, reducing unemployment rates and contributing to national productivity.

“Higher education institutions are known to serve as hubs of innovation and community development. This university will play a vital role in strengthening local industries, agriculture, healthcare, and technology, offering solutions tailored to the unique needs of Southern Kaduna and beyond.

“A Call for Continued Support and Investment:
While the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, is a monumental achievement, it is only the beginning of a journey.

“For this institution to truly fulfill its potential, continued support from the government, private sector, and well-meaning individuals is crucial.

“We call on the Federal Government, Kaduna State Government, and relevant authorities to ensure that the university receives adequate funding, infrastructure, and resources to operate effectively. This includes:
Constructing modern lecture halls, laboratories, libraries, and student accommodation
Recruiting highly qualified academic and administrative staff
Providing scholarships and financial aid to deserving students

“Establishing partnerships with international institutions for academic exchange and research collaborations

“Furthermore, we urge the private sector and philanthropic organisations to invest in the university through scholarships, endowments, and research grants.

“Education is a collective responsibility, and with the right support, this university can become a centre of excellence that benefits not only Southern Kaduna but the entire nation.

“The establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, marks the beginning of a new chapter in the history of Southern Kaduna.
